Putting Social Media to Work for You
How do readers find your content?
You’ll probably say through subscriptions, referrals, online searches … and you’d be right. But what do all those channels have in common? A connection to social media.
Why should you care?
Social media is extremely important for connecting with readers and bringing in new readers. Readers across all demographics are involved and engaged with social media. For example, 72% of all Internet users are now active on social media; 71% of users access social media from a mobile device; 47% of mobile users regularly get their news via social networks; and 60% of 50 to 60 year olds are active on social media.
Just as important, social media activity directly affects your search engine ranking. Seven of the top ten factors affecting SEO are social media-related, including Google+, Facebook shares, and tweets.
Social media is changing the way businesses share information and engage with readers. Understanding the value of each network, and being able to properly determine where and how to start is the key to success.
